Juventus will be cheering for Napoli and Inter. Not in the league, but in the Champions League where tonight the teams of Carlo Ancelotti and Luciano Spalletti are playing for qualification to the round of 16 of the competition.
The Partenopei will challenge Liverpool at Anfield Road, with just one point enough to qualify, while Inter must win against PSV and hope that Tottenham will not do the same in Barcelona. The fortunes of Juventus in the draw for the round of 16, will largely depend on these results as well.
Considering that in the round of 16 teams of the same nations cannot be drawn, if Inter and Napoli were added to the teams qualifying from second place and Juventus top their group, the Bianconeri would have a restricted number of options for the next round.
Inter will qualify from second if they win against PSV and Tottenham, as mentioned, does not do the same in Barcelona. Napoli are at the top of the standings and will paly for everything against Liverpool, who are third with six points. In the middle, there is PSG with eight points.
With three points, Ancelotti’s team will qualify from top spot, while with one they could be surpassed by PSG at the top of group C. This would be the best scenario for Juventus tonight also because then, the teams that will most likely qualify from second place would be quite affordable. Borussia Dortmund, Schalke 04, Ajax and Lyon as possible opponents, which is why tonight Juventus should cheer for Inter and Napoli tonight.
