Gianluigi Buffon got a well-deserved ovation from the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu just before the start of the second half of the match between Real Madrid and Juventus.
The goalkeeper was late to return to the field of play, as the other 21 players were already out and ready to resume the game.
As the keeper made his way to the north goal, he took the applause from the supporters.
Referee Michael Oliver hadn’t noticed Buffon was missing and was about to start the second half without him.
It was the assistant referee who warned him and it was 15 seconds later before the Italian appeared.
