European champions Real Madrid have rejected all advances from Chelsea with regards to the transfer of 22-year-old Marcos Llorente, who continues to remain uncertain about his future with the Los Blancos.

The Spaniard is due to return to training with Real Madrid and manager Zinedine Zidane wants him to challenge Casemiro for a spot in Madrid’s starting XI.

The solid central midfielder was impressive on loan at Alaves last season however Zidane overlooked him for a spot in Madrid’s team in the Spanish Super Cup game against Barcelona.

Llorente did come off the bench late on in Madrid’s La Liga opener and Diario Gol via Dailystar claim that Chelsea have observed the situation and have spoken with Florentino Perez over signing the Spanish talent.

It is being said that the Blues are in direct contact with the player and are trying to convince him to join Chelsea for more playing time. Conte feels that Llorente could take Nemanja Matic’s spot beside N’golo Kante.

Having signed Tiemoue Bakayoko in a similar position, the Premier League champions want to add depth to their midfield in order to cope with the challenges of European football this season. However Real Madrid have rejected Chelsea’s offer for Llorente.

The Blues will now chase Leicester City’s £30m rated Danny Drinkwater in the quest to complete their midfield.
