Real Madrid are monitoring the progress of RB Leipzig and Germany striker Timo Werner, according to reports in Spain.

The 21-year-old has been in blistering form this season, netting seven times in six appearances for club and country so far having hit 21 goals in the Bundesliga last season.

Diario AS cites a report in free-to-air Spanish TV station La Sexta which states Madrid have sent scouts to Leipzig regularly and also tracked the striker during Germany’s 6-0 victory over Norway last week.

Mariano Diaz and Alvaro Morata both departed the Bernabeu this summer with no forwards arriving to replace them, potentially leaving Zinedine Zidane’s side short of attacking options.

According to the reports, the German club would hold out for up to €100m for the striker next summer.
