Manchester United representatives have reportedly met with Lazio chiefs to discuss a transfer swoop for midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The Serbia international is one of the most sought after players in the game at the moment after impressing in Serie A in recent times.
Still only 23, Milinkovic-Savic looks to have the world at his feet and a host of top clubs are being linked with him this summer as Lazio slap a huge asking price on his head.
This is according to Il Messaggero, translated by talkSPORT, who list Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus as being in for the player, who’ll cost around £130million.
It remains to be seen if United can pay that, but the report does mention that both the Red Devils and Real Madrid have held talks over signing Milinkovic-Savic this summer.
This makes sense for Jose Mourinho’s needs in his squad, with Michael Carrick’s retirement and Paul Pogba’s unconvincing form meaning a player like Milinkovic-Savic could add a great deal to the team.
Fred has already come in to strengthen in that area, but Milinkovic-Savic looks a world class talent who could really be the difference in next season’s title race as United look to close a considerable gap on Manchester City.
