Manchester United are determined to sign Kalidou Koulibaly, but Napoli rejected a €90m proposal, claim Italian and English papers.

The 27-year-old Senegal international has just been nominated for the BBC African Player of the Year Award along with Juventus centre-back Medhi Benatia.

Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of K2 and several newspapers in England suggest he is Manchester United’s Number One priority for the defence.

However, La Repubblica in Italy claims an offer of €90m came in and was promptly rejected by Napoli.

Koulibaly only recently signed a new contract to June 2023 and the price-tag, if he were to leave, would be well over €100m.

Along with Manchester United, there is also interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
