Man City ‘unwilling’ to meet Real Madrid asking price for Kovacic

Sky Sport support the earlier report by Daily Star claiming that the Premier League champions want to bring the Croatian midfielder to the Etihad after failing to sign another midfield target, Jorginho, who has followed his former Napoli manager, Mauricio Sarri, to Chelsea.

Real Madrid demand at least €80m for the 24-year-old, who is considered Modric hair. However, the Premier League champions believe that this price is too substantial for a non-regular starter, despite all Kovacic’s evident talents.

Lopetegui is believed to have the final say on Kovacic’s future. The new coach is yet to determine Kovacic’s importance to his plans. In case the Croatian departs, Lopetegui will decide whether to sign a new midfielder or put his trust Dano Ceballos and Marcos Llorente.
