Juventus have published the following statement on the rape allegations against Cristiano Ronaldo:

Earlier, Kathryn Mayorga, 34, accused Cristiano Ronaldo of raping her in Las Vegas hotel nine years ago. She claims that the ex-Madrid forward paid her $375,000 to forget about the incident but her lawyer is now investigating the viability of such a settlement.

Mayorga told German paper Der Speigel that the Portuguese superstar raped her anally but afterwards asked if she was OK. She says: “By this time, he’s (…) on his knees. He says the 99 percent thing. He was a good guy except for the one percent.”

Ronaldo denies the accusations and claims the sex was consensual. However, as an unnamed official document shows, Cristiano has admitted that Mayorga said: “no and stop several times.”

“I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in. Keen as I may be to clear my name, I refuse to feed the media spectacle created by people seeking to promote themselves at my expense,” wrote Cristiano on his social media pages on Wednesday, after the accusations have been published.
