Iniesta: It’s hard to win Juventus but we controlled the match

Andres Iniesta believes Barcelona playing as “a team” contributed to them “controlling” Juventus in their 3-0 win on Tuesday.

Barca avenged their defeat to Juve by the same scoreline last season, courtesy of Lionel Messi’s brace and an Ivan Rakitic strike, prompting Iniesta to praise the “collective”.

“If the team work well, we’re all better off. I’m happy on a personal and collective level,” the midfielder said after the game.

“It’s always complicated to start by beating a team like Juve. We controlled the match well.

“They had very few chances and we had a very good game. Renewal? There’s no news. If there was, you’d have known.

“What worries me is what happens on the pitch. I want to be happy and that things go well.

“I favour the collective over the personal, and I’m happy about how it all went.

“I dropped off a bit last season due to an injury, which is what halts your rhythm.”
