I don’t know his name – Costa Rica coach calls Eden Hazard ‘the number 10’

The recent words of Costa Rica coach Oscar Ramirez have gone viral after the 53-year-old manager did not know the name of Belgium and Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

Hazard gave a football recital in Belgium’s 4-1 win against Costa Rica and his unstoppable passes and dribbles made the Costa Rican defence look like amateurs, yet Los Ticos’ own coach had no idea what his name was.

“Their number 10 did us a lot of damage, I do not know his name”, he admitted to the press.

Ramirez’s lack of knowledge about the Belgian superstar has raised some alarms in the Central American country, as the coach has been hit with criticism from many journalists such as Kristian Mora, from Teletica.

“How do you give your players a talk if you do not even know the name of your own rivals!”, she said.

Something similar occurred with Luis Aragones prior to the 2008 European Championship final against Germany when the coach was talking about Bastian Schweinsteiger.

“The blond, the ‘7’, we’re going to look for him”, he said provoking the laughter of his players. He is also well-known for saying Wallace rather than Ballack.
