Ernesto Valverde’s future is already attracting headlines, and the latest update comes from Sport who are reporting that he is having doubts about continuing at the Camp Nou.

The 54-year-old is into the second year of his two-year deal at the club, but his current contract does include the option of a 12-month extension.

According to Sport, Valverde is not sure about staying for another year. He does not feel “protected by the sporting committee or by the board” and also feels there is a lack of confidence in him despite delivering the double in his first season.

The report suggests Valverde doesn’t fancy staying and working in such conditions and also that Barcelona would be happy to wave goodbye if he does decide to walk away.

The players are said to like Valverde who has apparently won their respect and affection. Yet the report goes on to state “they wouldn’t do anything to save him.”

As it stands it seems as though Valverde will be bidding goodbye to Barcelona at the end of the season – so the big question now is who will replace him?
