David Luiz offers himself to Barcelona: Star unhappy being Chelsea substitute

The 30-year-old’s situation has escalated at Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.

Antonio Conte and the centre-half have fallen out, which led to Luiz being axed for Sunday’s 1-0 win over Manchester United.

The Brazilian faces a real mission to get back onside with his manager and displace in-form Andreas Christensen.

As a result, Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim Luiz has identified Barcelona’s need for defensive reinforcements.

The Catalan giants are ready to offload Thomas Vermaelen, and Javier Mascherano could leave soon too.

Luiz is subsequently said to have offered himself to Barcelona.

The ex-PSG star wants to leave Chelsea for a second time next year with his influence diminishing.

Despite being hailed as one of the world’s best defenders by Conte in April, it appears Luiz’s days at Chelsea could be numbered.

And sources close to the player told Diario Gol: “It’s better to be in Barcelona than to be a substitute in London.”

Luiz remains close with compatriot Neymar, who left Barcelona in the summer for his old club PSG.

But the £200m man continues to speak highly to Luiz of the players at the Nou Camp.

Having won the Premier League and Ligue 1, he would aspire to win La Liga with Barcelona.

And Luiz is also said to feel he can compete for the Champions League title more than with Chelsea.
