David de Gea drops fresh update on his future amid Real Madrid link

Manchester United superstar David de Gea has insisted that he is solely focused on his World Cup campaign with Spain amid speculation linking him with a possible move to Real Madrid.
La Roja head to Russia with the aim of lifting the title after a disappointing four-year period where they were ousted early of the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016, whilst being the holders.
As such, the entire team alongside De Gea are concentrating on the global tournament and speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the shot-stopper declined to speak on his club future.
He said: “My future? The important thing is the World Cup and not to think of anything else that can divert you or upset you. You have to be focused on having a good World Cup – we are all good.
“Hopefully we can go far and win. Football is football and a thousand things can happen. But I’m always calm. Come what may, I’ll be the same. It is important to be focused and be 100 per cent.”
De Gea has been unquestionably one of the best players under Jose Mourinho and losing him would significantly hamper the club’s chances of challenging for the title next season.
The Spaniard is currently contracted to United only until the summer of 2019 and the hierarchy need to sort a new extension at the earliest possibility, once he returns from his international duties.
Meanwhile, Spain head coach Julen Lopetegui has recently been confirmed to takeover as Real Madrid’s next head coach following the World Cup and this appears the prime reason behind the fresh De Gea speculation.
