Chelsea have held talks over a proposed move for Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj.

The Albanian is valued at £45million but has failed to agree terms on a new contract and is keen to link up with former coach Maurizio Sarri.

Chelsea could agree the deal in January but allow the 24-year-old to finish the season in Italy.

Lazio have an interest in Davide Zappacosta, who has been used sparingly in the Premier League by Sarri so far this season.

Hysaj is known for his pace and is also capable of making precisely-timed interceptions with regularity.

Sarri is fully aware of Hysaj’s quality having managed him at Napoli last season.

Now in his fourth season at Napoli, Hysaj has featured prominently this campaign, making 17 appearances across all competitions, and possesses experience of playing in the Champions League.

Cesar Azpilicueta has been the regular right-back for Chelsea in the Premier League so far this season, meaning Zappacosta, who joined from Torino in 2017, has seen his playing time restricted.

Zappacosta has been involved in Chelsea’s Europa League campaign but could be tempted by a return to Italy with Lazio, where he could play more regularly.
