The Spanish press is reporting today that La Liga has announced that Barcelona has officially met the release clause of French defender playing for Sevilla, Clement Lenglet.

Clement Lenglet, 23, has a release clause of 35 million euros and is one of the main transfer targets of Manchester United; however, Barcelona has moved first and moved quickly as they want to strengthen their defensive line ahead of next season.

It is likely that Lenglet will serve as Barcelona’s future key player that will have important role on the defense, playing alongside Samuel Umtiti, considering that Gerard Pique is entering his last years of his career.

Manchester United will be disappointed to have lost the chance to sign this player for 35 million all that is left is for the player to officially finish his move and wear the famous Barcelona shirt.

Lenglet signed for Sevilla from AS Nancy for a fee of around €7 million back in January 2017, a quick turn around of profit for the Spanish club should the move to Barcelona go through.
