“With Ronaldo, Real would be the favorite against City”

Emmanuel Adebayor believes Cristiano Ronaldo would have made Real Madrid the favorites to reverse the result against Manchester City in the 1/8 finals of the Champions League.

Los Blancos lost 2: 1 at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first match of the 1/8 finals of the Champions League, which took place in late February, while the return match was postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Real Madrid showed impressive form when the 2019/20 season resumed in June, winning ten games and drawing just one, to beat Barcelona in the race for the La Liga title.

The former Manchester City and Real Madrid striker, now in Olympia, Adebayor, believes that Zinedine Zidane’s team still has players who can reverse the result, but says that the presence of Ronaldo – who won the Champions League four times with the Spanish club before leaving for Juventus in 2018 – would have increased their chances even more.

“If you had asked me this question two years ago, I would have said yes, Real Madrid will reverse the result. “Real Madrid would be the favorite if they had Ronaldo,” said Adebayor.

“Then, Real had Cristiano, who is the goal machine. He can make a difference at any moment and contributes to the team with 50 goals per season “.

“Real Madrid lost the first game at home and will have a hard time without fans, against Manchester City, also due to the weather. But, it is not impossible. “Real have experienced players like Marcelo, Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois – they are used to playing in big games.”
