Cristiano Ronaldo may have escaped to Madeira to dodge coronavirus but he is still at risk to the elements – with another earthquake hitting the island.

Two quakes have shaken the winger’s hometown of Funchal in the past fortnight.

Sunday morning saw an earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter Scale strike following a greater 5.2-rated shock just over a week earlier.

No one was hurt by the quakes although there have been reports of rocks and debris blocking some of the mountainous island’s roads.

The most recent earthquake took place at a depth of 10km with the epicentre off the southern coast of Madeira.

These shocks are believed to be the first in over 12 years on the island, where approximately 290,000 people live.
