‘It’s easier for me when you rest’ – Batistuta congratulates Ronaldo for record

Gabriel Batistuta saluted Cristiano Ronaldo for equalling his Serie A record on social media, albeit pointing out “it’s easier when you rest.”

Ronaldo netted for Juventus in the 2-1 win against SPAL yesterday.

It was the Portuguese star’s 11th consecutive appearance in on target for the Bianconeri.

This allowed Ronaldo to equal the record set by Batistuta at Fiorentina in 1994-95 and Fabio Quagliarella with Sampdoria last season.

Batigol took to Twitter to congratulate Ronaldo on matching his achievement, sort of…

“Congratulations Cristiano for the record! The only thing is that it seems easier to me when you rest!”

Batistuta was referring to the fact that Ronaldo was rested for last week’s win against Brescia, whereas when Batistuta created the record, he played in all of Fiorentina’s opening 11 games in the 1994-95 season.

Quagliarella had also missed a match during his run, so Batistuta remains the only player to not only score in 11 consecutive rounds rather than just appearances, but also the first 11 games of the season.

Should Ronaldo score against Inter next week, he will stand out on his own with 12 consecutive games.
