Chelsea’s French international striker Olivier Giroud has told Inter’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio that he is prepared to voluntarily lower his wages with €1 million when joining the Nerazzurri to speed up his transfer to the Serie A outfit.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia’s transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio who, who moments ago reported that the reason for this act of altruism by the former Arsenal striker.
Chelsea refuse to lower their asking price of €5 million + €1 million in add-ons whilst Inter refuse to increase their offer from the current offer consisting of €4 million + €1 million in add-ons.
Therefore, the French 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has offered to give up €1 million from the future wages he would have earned at Inter, which were to be paid over the duration of his 2,5 year contract with the Nerazzurri.
This in order to convince the Nerazzurri to raise their offer to meet with Chelsea’s asking price.
