Real Madrid are interested in signing Leipzig forward

The 23-year-old signed a new deal with the current Bundesliga frontrunners in August 2019, and is under contract at Leipzig until 2023.

Last year, Leipzig’s sporting director Markus Krosche said that Werner would not be leaving the club in the immediate future, amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.

“Timo just extended his contract with us recently, and we’re not thinking about letting him go at all,” he told Bild in November 2019.

Werner has 18 goals and six assists in 17 games in the German top-flight this season.
