Liverpool have been handed a boost in the chase for Ousmane Dembele, it has been claimed.

The Barcelona forward faces an uncertain future at the Nou Camp as club bosses plot to bring Neymar back from Paris Saint-Germain.

According to El Desmarque , Jurgen Klopp has earmarked a swoop for Dembele. He believes the 22-year-old can offer an alternative to Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Barcelona will reportedly be open to sanctioning a sale if they receive an offer from the Reds worth in excess of €100m (£85m).

If Liverpool were to launch an acceptable bid then it would represent a loss on Barcelona’s investment.

Dembele was secured from Borussia Dortmund for an initial €105m plus €40m in add-ons in August 2017.

The France international was one of the hottest prospects in world football at the time but his career has since stalled.

He has endured another injury-hit campaign, managing just nine appearances in all competitions.

Dembele has provided 19 goals and 17 assists in 74 appearances for the club in all competitions in total.

The Vernon-born ace is under contract at the Nou Camp until the summer of 2022 but it appears unlikely he will see out the remainder of it.
