Man City ‘ready to offer €45m bid’ for Juventus defender

Manchester City are ready to make an offer for Juventus defender Merih Demiral, reports in Turkey say.

City have had well-publicised problems at centre-back this season after opting not to replace outgoing captain Vincent Kompany over the summer. The situation was not helped by Aymeric Laporte’s long term injury and spells out of the side for John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi.

Now, Turkish outlet Sabah (via SportWitness) claim Pep Guardiola has told City to make an offer for Demiral, 21, after becoming ‘crazy’ about the Juventus man.

Demiral has been starting ahead of Matthijs de Ligt in recent weeks, and is apparently attracting interest from Manchester United, Leicester and Arsenal.

The report says City will offer €45m (£38m) for Demiral, but a move would not necessarily be completed in January.
