Leo Messi spoke after his side were knocked out of the new-format Spanish Super Cup in the semi-final against Atlético Madrid. Messi scored early in the second half to level the tie at 1-1, but despite Barcelona going ahead through a Griezmann header, they were pegged back and then beaten by a Morata penalty and a Correa’s late goal.
When the reporter asked him if [he have] confidence in Valverde, Messi says: “Yes, we are still working and trying to improve,”
“Now we will have more days to prepare for the next game and think about the second round that we have ahead.”
“We have much to improve. We are first [in the league], although we haven’t been making good games.”
“We will try to keep improving our game to keep up.”
