Jurgen Klopp blames temperature for Adrian mistake for Brighton goal

Jurgen Klopp blamed the freezing temperatures at Anfield today for the mistake that left Liverpool sweating on a 2-1 win over Brighton.

First-choice keeper Alisson was sent off for deliberate hand ball on 78 minutes, meaning Adrian came on for the subsequent free kick.

But he was still lining up his wall when Lewis Dunk took it, passing it into the net meaning his first touch was picking the ball out of the net.

Klopp said; ’We brought on a frozen goalkeeper. Imagine you go on there with shorts and a really thin shirt and some gloves which are not made for keeping you warm.

‘Some people let the free kick happen like that. You look a little bit silly in that moment but you have to accept that.

‘Adrian especially helped us a lot with two good saves and crosses he caught but with his cold feet he couldn’t kick the ball as far as he wanted. It kept it a bit interesting.

‘I am very happy about the effort of the boys and proud about the desire they showed. The red card made it a really special win.’
