Roberto Moreno turned down the opportunity to join Luis Enrique as his assistant at a Premier League club before the pair’s high-profile fall-out over the Spain national team job, according to TVE News.

Moreno took charge of the Spain national team in June after Luis Enrique departed following the death of his daughter, but the former Barcelona boss made a shock return in November leading to his one-time assistant quitting.

The pair have since exchanged acrimonious words over the move, with Moreno reportedly left in tears following Spain’s Euro 2020 qualifier win over Romania and failing to attend the press conference afterwards.
