Chelsea forward Willian has been linked with a move to Barcelona, which would see him link up with Lionel Messi, but the Brazilian is of the belief that his compatriot Ronaldinho is the greatest player of all time, not the Argentine.
Many make the case that Ronaldinho was in fact at the level of Messi, if not better, but it was only for two- or three-year period, rather than the decade plus that Messi has been wowing football fans all over the world.
“Ronaldinho was the best of them all,” Willian told Goal when asked about his thoughts on the greatest player of all time debate.
“Better than Cristiano [Ronaldo] and Messi.
“They score a lot of goals, but what Ronnie was doing was amazing.
“He was amazing on the pitch, and he also scored goals.
“As a fan of his, I think he stopped too soon.
“If Ronaldinho had continued to play like this for a couple more years, he would have been the best in the world on three, four or five occasions.
“He was twice, and then I don’t know what happened.
“He was my biggest idol in football.”
