Chelsea fans mistakenly unveil Hazard banner against Liverpool

Eden Hazard clearly left his mark at Stamford Bridge in his seven years at Chelsea, but the Belgian wouldn’t have expected to see a banner with his image and name on it unveiled this past weekend.

Chelsea’s Matthew Harding stand unfurled a banner before kick-off against Liverpool which showed their former No.10 sliding in celebration, alongside his name.

But those responsible for the display have spoken out and denied that it was a tribute to their ex-player, explaining that it was a mistake and they brought the wrong flag with them.

“People actually thinking the Hazard flag was used on purpose by the MH Stand,” they wrote on Twitter.

“So much work/effort goes into organising these things and having so many flags it was bound to happen one day.

“[It] wasn’t ideal but if we can’t laugh at ourselves…”
