Ansu Fati has taken advantage of the injuries to Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele to break into Barcelona’s starting line-up, but with the return of the latter there are no guarantees that he will stay with the seniors.
Barcelona fans already adore the 16-year-old, who has scored two goals and assisted another in 116 minutes of LaLiga Santander action.
Dembele, meanwhile, will need to win over the confidence of the Camp Nou, although he is ahead of Fati in Ernesto Valverde’s pecking order.
The former Athletic Club coach will have to protect Barcelona’s academy product, as the club are aware of the dangers involved when a player bursts onto the scene at such a young age.
With Suarez, Messi and Dembele back from their injuries and Carles Perez being part of the first-team setup, Valverde could decide to send Fati back to Barcelona B but, should the youngster keep scoring, such a decision won’t be easy for the 55-year-old tactician.
