Juventus will launch their most audacious attempt yet at pouncing for a player on a free transfer by opening talks with Manchester United goalkeeper David de Dea.

Serie A’s most dominant side have a reputation of swooping for players with expiring contracts and, according to The Mirror, United’s No 1 is the next man in their sight.

De Gea is in the final year of his present deal at Old Trafford and talks over an extension have stalled. If this remains the case by January, he would be free to discuss terms with Juventus.

The Spain international would be considered an update on Juve’s current first choice goalkeeper, former Arsenal man Wojceich Szczesny.

Juventus have signed Aaron Ramsey, Emre Can and Adrien Rabiot on free transfers in recent seasons.
