Zidane only has 21 players present in Madrid training ahead of Celta clash

Real Madrid began training at 10:00 in the morning ahead of their opening LaLiga Santander match away to Celta Vigo at Balaidos.

The team are facing a testing opening game in Galicia, made all the more difficult after a tough pre-season campaign which included three defeats and two draws.

With Marco Asensio, Rodrygo and Ferland Mendy all out injured and Brahim Diaz in the final phase of his recovery, Zidane only had 21 players present in the group, which he then must reduce to 17.

Striker Mariano was omitted, a situation which happened on Thursday as Zidane decided to use Kubo instead.

Meanwhile Dani Carvajal is still waiting to see if his suspension is rescinded in time for the opening game, after he picked up five yellow cards last season.
