FIFA have officially unveiled the nominees for The 2019 Best FIFA Men’s Player award, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi included in a ten-man shortlist.

DETAILS FOR THE BEST FIFA MEN’S PLAYER AWARD

The Best FIFA Men’s Player is an association football award presented annually by the sport’s governing body, FIFA, to the world’s best men’s player.

The award is aimed at reviving the FIFA World Player of the Year, which was merged with France Football ‘s Ballon d’Or in 2010 to become the FIFA Ballon d’Or in a six-year partnership.

Luka Modric was named The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2018 in London, succeeding Cristiano Ronaldo who claimed the first two editions of the award in 2016 and 2017.

The much-vaunted pair join Lionel Messi, Zinedine Zidane, Kaka, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho in being voted the world’s best footballer in recent history.

All award winners will be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards show in Milan on 23 September.
