Two teams are battling for Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz, claim reports in France and Spain.

The Dominican centre-forward turns 26 this week and Real Madrid bought him from Olympique Lyonnais for €21.5m only a year ago.

He put together 22 competitive appearances in a Madrid jersey, scoring four goals, but hasn’t played a single minute of pre-season friendlies.

According to L’Equipe and AS, Monaco and Roma are pushing for his signature, with the Giallorossi biding their time until Edin Dzeko moves to Inter.

Real Madrid would request €20m for his signature, while he currently earns €4m per year.
