Ferland Mendy has been ruled out for around a month after picking up a thigh injury in yet another setback for Real Madrid in pre-season.

The latest blow for Los Blancos comes just days after Marco Asensio suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament which will keep him on the sidelines for an estimated nine months, as well as an injury to Brahim Diaz that will see the winger miss the rest of the club’s summer preparations.

Mendy suffered a muscular injury to the anterior part of his right thigh, according to a brief medical report published by the club on Thursday.

The French full-back started the 2-2 draw against Arsenal and will miss Real Madrid’s final International Champions Cup match against Atletico Madrid, as well as the Audi Cup.

Without the Frenchman, Marcelo remains the only left-back available to Zinedine Zidane.
