Juventus’ signing of Ajax wonderkid Matthijs de Ligt is all but confirmed, according to reports in Italy.
De Ligt became the most sought after youngster in the world after a huge breakthrough season with Ajax, and he has attracted heavy interest from Juventus, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Liverpool.
But it is Juventus who have won the race for the 19-year-old Holland centre-back’s signature.
The Italian champions made an improved offer to Ajax for the 19-year-old Netherlands international centre-back on Friday, and it is understood the two clubs now only need to agree the finer details of the transfer.
And according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, only the official announcement is missing.
The report also claims that Ajax believe the deal is done and it is only a matter of time before De Ligt signs on the dotted line for the Serie A giants.
The Dutchman will not travel to Ajax’s pre-season camp in Austria as he looks to finalise his big-money move.
Meanwhile, Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri is hopeful of completing the deal before his side head on their pre-season tour of Asia.
