Lucas Vazquez could depart Madrid to recoup funds after summer signings

Lucas Vazquez’s time at Real Madrid seems to be coming to an end as Los Blancos need to recoup funds after spending out on a series of signings at the start of the summer transfer window.

The Galician winger has performed beyond expectation since returning to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu after a successful season-long loan spell at Espanyol in 2014/15, and he has been essential for all of his coaches, most notably Zinedine Zidane, who has brought the best out of him.

Change to his situation
The issue for Lucas Vazquez is that the arrivals of Eden Hazard and Rodrygo Goes, in addition to the presence of Vinicius Junior and Marco Asensio, will see his game time diminish significantly.

Due to this situation, both Real Madrid and the player have begun to listen to proposals from interested teams. MARCA understand that at present there has not been a concrete offer placed for Lucas Vazquez. Instead, the clubs that are considering a move for the 28-year-old have simply monitored the situation and attempted to find out if the player would have an interest in moving to their side.

Lucas Vazquez is also in no hurry to find a solution. He is happy at Real Madrid, but he is aware that things have changed at the club. Nevertheless, his focus is on preparing himself for pre-season and that has seen him undergo an intense fitness regime at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca this week.

What those in charge at Real Madrid are clear about is that Lucas Vazquez will not be sold for less than 30 million euros. His contract with Los Blancos runs until 2021 and his release clause is 150m euros, while the clubs of note who are interested in the player are Inter and Arsenal, with the Gunners having made the first step towards signing him.

The interest from Unai Emery’s side began in the middle of last season and rather than cool down, it has gained traction in the last few days. Arsenal are determined to bring him to north London and are ready to make an irresistible offer to the winger, which would see him double his wages.

Lucas Vazquez does not want to rush and would prefer to wait before making a definitive decision. For the time being, he plans to travel to Montreal with the rest of the Real Madrid squad and once he has spoken with Zidane, he will decide which situation suits him best.
