Barcelona lie in wait as Juventus’ pursuit of De Ligt gets complicated

Directors at Barcelona had essentially given up on their chances of landing Matthijs de Ligt, but there may still be a chance of acquiring the Dutch centre-back given that Juventus haven’t been able to agree a transfer fee with Ajax.

Barcelona had been able to agree a fee with Ajax, of 75 million euros plus some possible add-ons.

However, Juventus are offering 65m euros plus 10m euros in add-ons and this isn’t being accepted by Ajax.

Juventus, though, have agreed personal terms with the player, something Barcelona were unable to do.

Both suitors, therefore, have one half of the transfer completed.

Juventus will have to up their offer to Ajax if they are to get this transfer over the line.
