Liverpool face tough competition if they want to sign Nicolas Pepe after Inter hiked up their offer for the Lille winger.
And Atletico Madrid have also joined the race for Pepe, meaning Jurgen Klopp’s Reds would face at least a three-way fight for the 24-year-old, who has also been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal .
Inter Milan have lodged a bid of 60million euros (£54million) for Pepe, but according to reports in French magazine France Football they are set to up their offer to an eye-watering 90million euros (£80million).
Meanwhile, Atletico have made the Ivorian a priority target and they could soon join the bidding war, reports Inside Futebol.
Pepe is currently part of the Ivory Coast squad at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will go toe-to-toe with Inter and Atletico for the winger – and indeed Jurgen Klopp has been advised against it by one French football expert, who said Pepe would be an expensive understudy to Mo Salah.
