Bayern Munich defender Mats Hummels is returning to Borussia Dortmund this summer after the two sides came to an agreement.
The German international left Signal Iduna Park back in 2016 after spending seven years with the club.
But the 30-year-old is now heading back to the Yellow and Black club where he made his name in the early 2010s.
Having confirmed the news to their supporters via a GIF of Hummels on social media, a club statement read: ‘Borussia Dortmund has reached an agreement in principle with FC Bayern Munich over the transfer of defender Mats Hummels.
‘The centre-back, who previously played for BVB between 2008 and 2016, scoring 25 goals in 306 competitive appearances for the Black & Yellows, is set to return to his former club ahead of the new season.
‘The transfer remains subject to a medical, which has yet to be carried out. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the contents of the transfer agreement.’
