Marcos Llorente is likely to join Atletico Madrid next season with the manager Diego Simeone personally asking for our midfielder to replace the possibly-leaving Rodrigo Hernandez. Marcos will definitely get more time than he got at Real Madrid and could receive invaluable knowledge and experience.

COPE reported that Llorente has made a decision regarding the earlier-reported move to Atletico. The player wants to join our city rivals and feels excited about Diego Simeone’s project. Marcos was rumoured to be one of the ‘undesirables’ at Real Madrid and will exit the club in the summer.

Zinedine Zidane has all but confirmed immediate departure of the 24-year-old holding midfielder who rose to prominence playing under Santiago Solari, yet lost his place to Casemiro under Zidane:

“Llorente needs to play, he deserves it. We have to be honest with the players. He played well at Alaves because he had continuity. Here he hasn’t had that because there are a lot of important players – that’s life and we can’t change that,” said the French boss, making it clear another loan move is on the cards for the 24-year-old.
