What’s going on with Matthijs de Ligt? According to the most recent information from Catalan news source Diari ARA, the operation is still on. FC Barcelona are not intended to give up so quickly on the centre-back even though there is severe competition from Paris Saint-Germain.

The story continues as the Catalan giants admit there are complications on the De Ligt transfer mostly because of PSG’s aspirations to sign the centre-back. Apparently, their new sporting director Leonardo personally wants to orchestrate this bold move.

The report from ARA finishes up as Barcelona could still complete a last-minute De Ligt signing, the same they did with his Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong.

Before De Ligt, PSG were going to steal another Barca transfer target – Ajax promising midfielder Frenkie de Jong. Everything indicated he would be tempted by the Parisians’ astronomical offer, however, the 22-year-old eventually listened to what his heart desired and opted for the Blaugrana move. The Catalans signed De Jong in January for 75 million euros. Will the same happen with De Ligt?

It should be noted that Juventus have also rejoined the race for De Ligt, as per local top source Tuttosport. The meeting between the Bianconeri director and Mino Raiola is already scheduled.

De Ligt has been heavily linked with the Blaugrana move for several months, however, the Parisians are allegedly leading the race because of their financial abilities. According to Diario Sport, they are offering the 19-year-old a staggering €12m-per-year salary, twice as much as Barca.
