Arsenal defender Stephan Lichtsteiner will leave the club this summer after only one edition at Emirates Stadium.

The 35-year-old captain of Switzerland joined Arsenal in June 2018 from Juventus signing a one-year contract.

He has made 23 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, scoring just one goal – in the Carabao Cup.

“It was a wonderful challenge and an experience without a happy ending,” Lichtsteiner said, who did not play in the Europa League final last week.

“We were very near to close an important chapter with this wonderful club. This is difficult to accept. I am very disappointed, “added the Swiss defender.

Stephan Lichtsteiner came last year from Juventus after 10 seasons in Italy – 3 with Lazio and 7 with Juventus.

He made 257 appearances with the Old Lady and scored 15 goals.

We remember that the Swiss is the second footballer leaving Arsenal after Aaron Ramsey moved to Juventus.
