Bartomeu: There aren’t enough awards to recognise Messi’s greatness

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu heaped praise on Lionel Messi after the Argentine won his sixth European Golden Shoe.

Messi netted 36 times in 34 matches in LaLiga Santander this season, finishing three goals ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe in the race for the award.

“Another Golden Shoe for the best player in history, the sixth!” Bartomeu said on Twitter.

“There aren’t enough individual awards to recognise your greatness, Leo. Congratulations!”

Messi will be looking to add to his trophy collection with victory in the Copa del Rey final against Valencia on Saturday as Barcelona look to put the Anfield defeat behind them.
