Juventus ‘still hold hope’ they can land Zidane this summer

Zinedine Zidane, before agreeing to return to the dugout at Real Madrid, was Juventus’ main candidate to lead their team next season.

The announcement of Zidane’s quickfire return to LaLiga ruined Andrea Agnelli’s plans.

It still remains unclear who will replace Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus. The decision from the club to part ways with their coach surprised many, not least Allegri because he still had a year left on his deal.

Club president Agnelli believes a move for Zidane now would be improbable, but not impossible, due to the tense relationship between the coach and his current president, Florentino Perez.

Yesterday Zidane said: “If I can’t do what I want with my team, I’ll leave.” Some people suggest this was a warning to Perez about doing any transfer deals without his consent.

Should the tension continue to rise, or another incident happens which causes the two to part company, Juventus would be ready and willing to swoop in.
