Roberto Firmino was ruled out of Liverpool’s Premier League match against Huddersfield on Friday night due to a muscular injury.

The player will be assessed ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Striker Daniel Sturridge took the Brazilian’s place against already relegated Huddersfield.

Before the match Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp told Sky Sports “Yesterday (Thursday) after training he mentioned a l ittle muscle issue. We’ll assess it obviously.”

“It’s not a big thing but it was enough to leave him out today (Friday), that’s all,” he added.

A positive piece of news for Liverpool is the return to action of English midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

After a year out of action due to a knee injury picked up against AS Roma in last year’s Champions League semi-final, the player was named on the substitute bench for Friday night’s match.
