Ryan Giggs has given a withering response to Zlatan Ibrahmovic’s claims the Class of 92 are ‘complaining all the time’ about Manchester United.

The Wales manager reflected on the great contribution he made to United alongside Gary and Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, and David Beckham, and said sarcastically that Ibrahimovic ‘obviously knows more about the club than us.’

Ibrahimovic had called the group the ‘circle of Ferguson’ and wondered whether Sir Alex had granted permission for them to ‘open their mouths’ against the likes of Paul Pogba.

The Swede told the Mirror: ‘They are on TV and complaining all the time because they are not active in the club. If you want to work in the club, go and search for work in the club.

‘With Pogba, he was with United when he was young, then he went out and he came back. And in the circle of Ferguson, they don’t like that.’

Giggs replied: ‘Only Nicky is connected with the club now, but when you play over 2,000 games between us, we are going to have an opinion.’ The Class of 92’s cumulative total for United is actually 3,450 appearances. Ibrahimovic played 53 times for the club.

Giggs continued: ‘Sometime the opinion is positive, sometimes negative, but it doesn’t have an effect on results. We are supporters. That’s what football is about, having different opinions.

‘But he (Ibrahimovic) obviously knows more about the club than us.’

Giggs was speaking at United’s Carrington training complex, where the Wales the squad are training ahead of Wednesday night’s friendly with Trinidad and Tobago at Wrexham. He was also asked about Manchester City’s prospects of winning a quadruple of trophies this season.

‘I’ve got enough to worry about, please don’t bring that up!’ he said. ‘They’re a fantastic team aren’t they. They’ve already got one. United going out of the FA Cup makes it a little bit easier for them.

‘They’ve got a long way to go, but just like us in the Treble you need a lot of things to go for you, that bit of luck, which they had at the weekend. But they are a brilliant team. It will be interesting to see what they can achieve.’
