Real Madrid’s successive defeats against Barcelona were undeserved, according to Dani Carvajal.
The Blaugrana moved clear in the all-time Clasico wins list thanks to their 3-0 success in the Copa del Rey and a 1-0 victory in LaLiga Santander.
However, Real Madrid did perform well in both games and the defender reflected on the missed opportunities.
“I think that they were two closely contested matches,” he said after Saturday’s loss.
“In the Copa del Rey I think the result was flattering and today was a game in which there were chances for both sides.
“Now the league is far away for us and it hurts us because this was an opportunity to get back in the fight.
“You should never lose three games at home in your own stadium but we are thankful for the fans.
“I think football has been a bit unfair to us.
“We shouldn’t regret things, but we should look forward.
“You have to score goals.
“We were missing a bit of luck, but we have to work harder to score.
“This has probably been one of the hardest weeks since I’ve been here, but we have to continue.”
The Spain international also had his say on Real Madrid’s fixture list, before turning his attention to Champions League action.
“The schedule hasn’t been the best for us with a match every three days,” he added.
“But it is what we have and we must try to be fresh for the game against Ajax as these game take much more out of you.
“In three days we have a final and we know what we are capable of when our minds are focused.”
