Casemiro: It is unfair

Casemiro didn’t like being asked about Vinicius, who played well against Barcelona but missed chances, after Real Madrid were beaten 3-0 by the Catalans in the Copa del Rey semifinal.

The midfielder said publicly what the Madrid dressing room is thinking given the spotlight which has been parked on the teenager in recent months.

The Brazilian was categorical: “Vinicius is a player that takes risks and doesn’t fear the big games, but if we only speak about him when we’ve had one of the best first halfs of the season, it’s unfair.”

Casemiro didn’t think the defeat was fair: “The result’s not good and it’s tough for us, but we played really well. We worked hard, we fought and we tried, but we lakced a goal.

“It’s always hard to lose, especially a Clasico. But it’s in the past. Now we must think about La Liga and the Champions League and give our all to win those two trophies.”

Despite that, he defended Madrid’s forwards: “A week ago we were talking about having the best No.9, Vinicius, [Gareth] Bale… [Karim] Benzema is playing really well. It’s his best year.”
