Suarez: Barcelona knew what will happen if we scored first

Luis Suarez made the difference at the Santiago Bernabeu as his brace against Real Madrid helped Barcelona reach the Copa del Rey final.

Barcelona are on course for a treble, they are 10 points clear in LaLiga Santander and are favourites to progress into the quarter-finals of their Champions League tie against Lyon.

“We’ve achieved one of the objectives that we set at the start of the season,” Suarez told TVE.

The 3-0 scoreline was emphatic and is the second time Barcelona have scored three or more goals against Real Madrid this season.

“We knew that if we scored, then they would push forward and we would have more space,” he added.

“Matches always have their pros and cons; we didn’t play the way that we wanted, but that’s what matches are like.”

Barcelona return to the Bernabeu to face Madrid in LaLiga Santander on Saturday night.

“We know how difficult league games are and we have little time to recover [in prder] to be ready for Saturday,” he said.
