Frustrated Bale refused to continue warm-up after Valverde was brought on

Gareth Bale’s problems at Real Madrid seem to be going from bad to worse.

The Welshman was visibly incensed after Santiago Solari opted to bring on the Fede Valverde ahead of him with his first substitution.

Bale has been a bit part player this season for Madrid and rumours linking him with a move away from the club refuse to go away.

Gol’s cameras captured the moments just prior to the substitution.

Bale can be seen warming up alongside teammates Marco Asensio and Valverde during his side’s clash against Levante, which they ended up winning thanks to two controversial penalties.

There appeared to be some confusion on the touchline with both Bale and then Asensio believing they had been chosen to come on, only for Solari to choose Valverde.

At that very moment, Bale, clearly angered by his coach’s decision, returned to the bench for water.

Instead of rejoining Asensio to continue his warm-up, he sat down alongside his other teammates on the bench, much to their surprise.

The 29-year-old did not move for five minutes until he finally received the call from his coach to say that he was about to be introduced in place of Karim Benzema.

Once he was on the pitch, Bale looked like he had a point to prove and he was discernibly riled, so much so that he did not celebrate his goal from the penalty spot after putting his side 2-1 ahead in what turned out to be the game-winning goal for Los Blancos.
