Marcelo meets with Real Madrid board

Marcelo’s disappointed with his secondary role at Real Madrid and the amount of criticism he’s receiving, to the point that he’s thinking about his future at the club.

According to Cadena COPE, the Madrid left-back met on Monday with one of the top brass at the club, general director Jose Angel Sanchez, to tell him about his disillusionment and to talk about the option of moving.

This has been, without doubt, Marcelo’s worst season at the Santiago Bernabeu. Academy graduate Sergio Reguilón has taken his place and when he has had the chance to play, like on Sunday against Girona in La Liga, defensive lapses have cost him.

The Brazilian’s days at Madrid could be numbered, despite the fact he has a contract until 2020. But he knows that he has suitors across the world, one of them being Juventus, where his friend Cristiano Ronaldo is.

It remains to be seen what Madrid coach Santiago Solari will do now. If he continues to stick with Reguilón in the big games or if he gives Marcelo the chance to re-prove his worth to the club.
